Human Kindness
When I boarded the plane, I was able to sit in the first row on the driver’s side with an 82-year-old gentleman. When we were preparing to land, the gentleman was confused about his connecting flight. Flight Attendant Earl assured the man that he would make sure that the wheelchair operator would take him to his next flight.
I watched Earl take $20 out of his pocket and give it to the wheelchair operator to make sure this man made it to the flight ontime. This practically brought me to my knees; I simply could not believe it, and I have not seen this level of kindness in a long time. Earl did many things during the 50-minute flight (sing happy birthday, sing a thank-you song, share his appreciation for 28 years at Southwest) that were fantastic. These were all great, but his act of human kindness, tipping the wheelchair operator to ensure his Customer made it to the next flight, will stick with me for a very long time. Hats off to Earl!
